Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896. He was a great american writer in the 1920's. Although he only wrote 4 major novels and 18 short stories, his works didn't catch in the wild and rowdy 20's they became appreciated more after World War II. His writings characterized the time in which he was writing them. His famous book "The Great Gatsby" describes the wild years in the twenties. His next book "Tender Is the Night", written in 1934 was very dark and sad mostly because it was written during the Great Depression while Fitzgerald was broke and he had just lost his father. He died six years later at age 44, in Hollywood, CA with his last book "The Last Tycoon" unfinished. Fitzgerald was a great writer but he was not fully recognized until after World War II.
